1. Latin


     Latin is a classical language, originally spoken in Latium. It was the dominant language of the western Roman Empire, and has significantly impacted other languages. 

2. Roman Empire

     The Roman Empire refers to the post-Republican period of ancient Rome. From the accession of Caesar Augustus to the military anarchy of the third century, it was considered to be a principate. It was fragmented briefly, but reassembled and ruled by multiple emperors.

3. Principate

     The Principate refers to the first period of the Roman Empire, from 27BC to 284 AD. It is characterized by the reign of a single emperor to preserve the appearance of continuance. 

4. Primus inter pares

     Primus inter pares is a Latin phrase meaning "first among equals." It is generally used as an honorary title for someone who is equal to others in the group, but deserve unofficial respect.
